Your words strike a cord with me. The lack of congruency in so much of what I have seen in churches and in the lives of those who attend these churches has long been something I could not reconcile. Yes, so much of the whole thing is wrapped up in plastic. Contemplation can never be achieved while sitting on a plastic covered couch, nor can it happen in a church service designed to overwhelm our nervous systems so we cannot ponder, reflect, or question while there. What a beautiful complicated journey you are both on. The moving out may not have been of your own making, but it seems by embracing it, you have found God is there in the wild places. It is a gift that you are both journeying together. I am learning God can not be contained he is found in the most surprising places if we open our hearts. I am struggling with being in church but reluctant to leave as my husband still wants to be there. Blessings to you both as you go
